WHY WE JOINED A VETERANS GROUP?
To our amazement, we all need human interaction. The old psyche is sometimes a force to be reckoned with.
This last year has been hard and not being able to socialize has played havoc on most of us. The military is a family and we veterans are the family members with a lot in common. Thankfully, the missus and I are members of veterans’ unit and had the support of good friends and comrades.
Veterans’ groups are good for the soul. As a group, we have the opportunity to volunteer and give back to our community while at the same time socializing and enjoying ourselves. It gives us a sense of purpose while helping other veterans and their dependents.
Our group has a service officer. That person has extensive knowledge and experience of the rules and regulations of Veterans Affairs Canada aka VAC and can advise if we would need advice on any administration that would be needed.
Right now, with the pandemic we’re not able to have our monthly meetings. That does not stop us from checking in and making sure we’re all OK.
This is why we joined a veteran’s group.
